
Special Provision for Disabled Applicants to Apply for a Passport
- A Person with disabilities can apply for a passport online through Passport Seva Portal by following the same general process.
- After filling out the application form and paying the fee, applicants must schedule an appointment and visit the PSK on the scheduled date.
- On the appointment date, a non-disabled person may accompany and assist the applicant during the process.
- Applicants with disabilities must provide a valid certificate as proof of physical or mental disability.
- The disability certificate must be issued by the competent department.
- Passport Seva Kendra or POPSKs have a dedicated helpdesk to assist such disabled applicants.
- During the process, special assistance and facilities are provided to applicants with disabilities.
Passport Application Process for Disabled People
- Online Application
- Open Passport Seva Portal.
- Register (if not a registered user)
- Login using the details.
- Fill the Application Form
- Select Apply for Fresh Passport or Renewal.
- Fill out the personal details such as Name, Address, DOB, etc.
- Enter family details and emergency contact number.
- Upload documents and submit the form.
- Pay the Application Fees
- Fee can be paid online through Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card or UPI
- Select the Passport Seva Kendra/POPSK and book your appointment.
- Visit PSK on the scheduled appointment date with all documents in original.
- After document verification at Passport Office, police verification will be conducted.
- If the police verification report is positive, the passport is issued and sent to the applicant's address via speed post.
Passport Application Documents List for Disabled Applicants
- Disability Certificate.
- Identity Proof
- PVC Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, Ration Card, Driving License, or ID issued by the government department.
- Address Proof
- Utility Bills (Electricity/Water), Bank Passbook, Rent Agreement, or PVC Aadhaar Card with current address.
- Proof of Birth
- PAN Card or Birth Certificate.
- If Married
- Marriage Certificate
- Annexue 'J' in absence of Marriage Certificate.
- Educational Certificate (if available)
Note *
- A dedicated help desk counter for disabled applicants is available at Passport Offices, ensuring the process is quicker.
- Applicants with physical disabilities must present at the PSK/POPSK.
- Disabled applicants also must follow the same police verification process as followed by the other applicants.
Passport Fee for Personal with Disabilities
- Disabled applicants do not receive any concession in passport fee.
- Normal Category Fee
- New Passport/ Passport Renewal: Rs 1500/-
- Tatkal Category Fee
- New Passport/Passport Renewal: Rs 3,500/-
Validity of Passport for Person with Disabilities
Similar to other passports, the validity of a passport issued to a person with disabilities is 10 years.
Time Taken to Issue Passport
New Passport or its renewal takes 15-25 days if submitted under the Normal Category, and 10-15 days under the Tatkal Category.
